BATAVIA, NY - The former St. Jerome Hospital
Campus in the center of Batavia is under contract to be sold.
United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC) announced at their annual
meeting that Senior Associates of Williamsville, NY had agreed
to buy the property for redevelopment into senior housing
with a complete continuum of care and support for its residents.
This deal will productively employ the entire
property, which currently includes over 175,000 square feet
of buildings on over 5 acres of land in the center of the
City of Batavia. Senior Associates will rehab the 7 story
main building for the care and housing of the elderly. The
City of Batavia and Genesee County will utilize a portion
of the property to build a new joint law enforcement facility
after demolition of some structures. The former Macauley Hall
will be retained by UMMC for office uses.
B. Thomas Mancuso, SIOR of Mancuso Management
brokered the deal. The Mancuso Group has a 40-year history
of creatively finding ways to fill and adaptively reuse old
industrial and commercial buildings.
The active cooperation of the City of Batavia
and its Community Development Department, Genesee County,
the Genesee County Industrial Development Agency and NYS Small
Cities Program was critical to the ability for this deal to
occur.
A late 2003 or early 2004 closing date is expected.
